I finally went to The Pizza Standard, delicious! For my first visit I ordered a hot Italian sausage and mushroom pizza. The pizza had so much flavor, and had a bit of a kick too! The crust had that nice crunch that I look for in a great NY style pizza. The customer service was excellent as well. Sam was friendly and helpful. I can't wait to come back and try another pie, there are many toppings to mix and match. If you are looking for a high quality pizza, The Pizza Standard is a MUST try. Eat up!!!

Decided to try Pizza Standard after reading the reviews. WOW!!! Definitely my new favorite! The crust is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with perfect flavor! A good crust is where it all begins; Pizza Standard has truly mastered this art! They use quality ingredients and are not skimpy on sharing them on each pie. The pepperoni had a nice kick to it. They have created some interesting and flavorful combinations. You can create your own combo or indulge in one of theirs. Pizza comes by the slice or whole. Tiramisu was SO GOOD I almost cried! I’m sure many people would like them to expand into a larger place with more seating and a larger menu, offering more than pizza/salad BUT they have perfected pizza and only focus on pizza. Sometimes expansion can dilute that. I think the little storefront is perfect for what they do. It’s no nonsense, no frills and just a few tables inside but the staff is super friendly and they make awesome pizza. What more do you need?

It's not often that you find a pizza place that holds not only bold, perfect, sizzling pizza by the pie or by the slice, but a friendly attitude from every member of staff.....but the pizza standard is it. You guys were awesome! I got 2 slices and ate them in my car like a degenerate and wished I had 2 more. Thanks so much and keep playing magic the gathering my peeps!

Let me start by saying I’m pregnant with extreme food aversions & cravings. We FINALLY tried the Standard Pizza tonight and oh my word. I’m devastated we’ve lived 1.3 miles away for almost a year and JUST had this pizza tonight. Literally tastes and feels the way pizza is meant to. As soon as I got the food in the car, I immediately knew it was the right choice because the smell was already a vibe in itself. Real talk: pizza was great, cheese bread was great, service was great, price was great- this is our new designated pizza spot. You *have* to try it. Don’t wait as long as we did!

Some of the best dough in the pizza game comes from the pizza standard. They do a great job with a no frills store front that focuses on what’s important; the pizza. Bonus for the hand drawn plates from customers on the walls. And I do love their random little handwashing station, lol. Their truffle pizza is a unique and very flavorful pizza that is worth trying. Not sure what sauce they or if it’s handmade but it’s rich. The ranch is made in house and it slaps. There isn’t much else to say, come see for yourself!

We ordered the Soprano and the cheesy bread. Both delicious. I wouldn’t change a thing. The employees are super sweet as well. The only suggestion we’d like to add: more “appetizers” like wings or wedges. We will definitely be back!

We tried this place for the first time last night because we happened to be in the area. O.M.G. I think this may have been a life altering, universe shattering experience because it’s the best pizza I’ve ever had. We ordered the cheesy bread and one of the specialty pizzas. We ate the entire order of cheesy bread which is a big deal because my husband isn’t really into just eating bread that much. Probably because he’s insane...Then the pizza came out and it was amazing. The toppings were delicious, everything was evenly distributed, and the thin crust was thin, but still sturdy. Staff was super nice and helpful. All around a great experience. I’ll make the drive from Escondido again just for another slice of this tasty goodness.

Live around downtown SD but always interested in finding good pizza spots and took a chance on The Pizza Standard. It was worth the 15 minute drive up and back down to pick up this pie. They may have the best crust in the city. You can tell there’s love and care in this dough and even the leftover slices still carry through just how good this dough is. Overall, it’s one of the top pizza spots I’ve tried in my few years living in the city. Their location isn’t one where you’d probably want to come with a group and order pies for dining in, but if you’re in the area and want a quick slice, it’ll do. I won’t hold it against them that the “atmosphere” isn’t 5 stars because that’s not what this is about. Last little tip. Order the cheese bread. It’s the best I’ve had from any pizza place.
